🚢 Inside Our Export Process: How We Prepare Orchids for Overseas Shipment

Gan Lin Agriculture Co., Ltd. — Taiwan Phalaenopsis Orchid Exporter

Exporting living orchids requires precision, experience, and care. Every plant represents months — sometimes years — of cultivation and preparation. At Gan Lin Agriculture, we follow a carefully designed process to ensure every orchid arrives healthy, hydrated, and ready to grow.

1. Pre-Export Bottle Inspection and Selection

Before export, we conduct a detailed quality inspection to ensure only healthy and uniform plants are selected.

Healthy seedlings are kept, while smaller or unhealthy ones are removed or replaced.

After inspection, plants undergo a two- to three-week drying period to ensure the growing medium is completely dry.

Next, we begin a dormancy induction process inside our controlled cooling warehouse.

Humidity is maintained at around 50%, allowing the plants to gradually enter a resting state.

All packing operations are carried out inside the cooling warehouse to minimize field heat and maintain stable conditions.

Our export boxes use breathable nonwoven fabric, providing good ventilation and preventing excess moisture buildup.

Through this preparation, the orchids enter a stable dormant phase, helping them stay strong during shipping and recover quickly after arrival.

2. Temperature Conditioning (Pre-Cooling)

After selection, the orchids are moved into our pre-cooling room, where the temperature is gradually lowered to 18–20°C.
This process helps the plants enter a dormant state, reducing respiration and water loss.
It also prevents heat stress and keeps the plants stable throughout transport.

3. Packing with Care and Precision

Packing orchids for export requires both experience and technical precision.

Plants are carefully aligned to maximize airflow inside each carton.
Boxes are clearly labeled with variety names, destination codes, and carton numbers.
Temperature indicators are included for long-distance shipments.

Each destination — whether the USA, Brazil, Europe, or Japan — follows its own specific packing standard, ensuring the plants arrive in optimal condition.

4. Cold Chain Transportation

After packing, boxes are loaded into refrigerated containers (reefers) maintained at 16–18°C.
We coordinate closely with logistics partners to ensure consistent temperature from Tainan, Taiwan to the final destination.

Each container is pre-checked, efficiently loaded for airflow, and monitored throughout transit to prevent temperature fluctuations.

5. Export Documentation and Certification

Every shipment includes complete export documentation:

  • Phytosanitary Certificate (issued by BAPHIQ, Taiwan)

  • CITES Appendix II Certificate for Phalaenopsis

  • Commercial Invoice, Packing List, and Customs Declaration

All documents are verified before departure to ensure smooth and compliant customs clearance worldwide.

6. Arrival Support and Follow-Up

Our service continues even after the shipment leaves Taiwan.
We follow up with customers to confirm arrival quality and provide unpacking and acclimation guidance when needed.

🌸 Our Commitment

From pre-cooling to documentation, every step of our export process reflects our commitment to quality, consistency, and reliability.
We treat every shipment not as cargo, but as living collections that represent our craftsmanship and care.
